Locally-owned real estate brokerage Hasson Company Realtors received two awards from the Clark County Association of Realtors, CCAR, last week. Hasson agent Tonia Rhine received the Realtor Achievement Award for excellence in her field, and her office, Hasson Company’s Southwest Washington branch, received an award for its outstanding record of charitable giving.

CCAR is an organization based out of Vancouver, Washington, whose purpose is to “enhance the ability of its members to conduct their business in a successful, professional and ethical manner while protecting private property rights.”  Rhine and her office received their awards at the end of last week.

The Southwest Washington branch donated $1,500 during CCAR’s Holiday Fund Drive, more than double any other single organization, and received its award for giving in recognition of the office’s efforts during the drive.

“Our office, led by Linda McClellan, spearheaded the drive, and the matching donation secured by her husband’s firm made possible this extraordinary level of giving,” said Managing Principal Broker Dennis Kelly.

Tonia Rhine is an acting Director for CCAR this year, and has been a resident of Clark County for almost forty years. She is a certified Relocation specialist, as well as a New Home Specialist and a licensed Real Estate Instructor.

“Tonia has been a dedicated member of CCAR’s leadership team for many years,” said CCAR CEO Michele Holen. “She currently chairs the Grievance Committee, and it’s in this capacity that she really shines.  Her passion for the Code of Ethics and Professional Standards Procedures are reflected in the high standards she sets for herself and her committee.”  For more information on Rhine’s work, visit http://toniarhine.hasson.com/.

The Central Oregon branch of premiere Northwest brokerage Hasson Company Realtors has become a member of the Central Oregon Builders Association (COBA). As an organization, COBA advocates politically and locally for the housing industry, and provides opportunities for the public to become educated on issues affecting contemporary homebuilding.

COBA will provide the Hasson Company with monthly networking meetings with other businesses dedicated to local building, as well as opportunities for classes on topics such as Green Building, Sales & Marketing, Building Codes, and Jobsite Safety.

“Our membership in COBA will benefit both of our organizations immensely,” said Jason Gooing, Principal Managing Broker of the Central Oregon branch. “Our agents will have crucial information about homebuilding as soon as it becomes available, which will further their knowledge and expertise in all stages of homebuilding and buying. These benefits can then be passed on directly to our clients.”

Hasson Company Realtors and McEnearney Associates are members of The Active Enterprise Network, a union of privately-held real estate companies across the country that share information and strategy as well as a unified technology platform.

The Vision for the Year 2030

Our vision at McEnearney Associates, Inc. for real estate in 2030 is based on a healthy examination of how we do business today, and the need to create a culture that can adapt to changing consumer needs.  Before we can start to understand and prepare for what real estate in 2030 will look like we need to understand what trends we are seeing today that will be relevant in 2030.

Five vital trends for any successful brokerage or agent to master for real estate in 2030:
•    Understand the dichotomy between mobile business and bricks and mortar storefronts.
•    Redefine the brokerage’s role as a platform for career growth and as a local service provider.
•    Be relevant and present to clients when and where they want us.
•    Learn how to artfully balance personal styles and methods within the context of a larger brand.
•    Retool the image of the real estate agent and, in light of the recession, the housing industry as a whole.

The gold jacket isn’t the gold standard.
Real estate in 2030 will be just as much about customer relation management as it is about customer experience management. Building and maintaining a diverse and fortified network of friends, followers, fans and connections, will be paramount to these efforts. The timely incorporation and use of tools that enable these processes will be increasingly important.

The vision is rooted in the acceptance that the whole is always greater than the sum of its parts – gestalt – at all levels of business, from agent to staff to office, to firm and to the enterprise network.

But some things will never change.
The first ad that my grandfather, John McEnearney, created to announce the opening of the northern Virginia real estate firm in 1980 had this simple message:

“To provide a quality of real estate services that is second to none. To earn the respect of our customers and clients and ultimately their recognition as the best.”

Our commitment to this message, and the Realtors who have embodied it, has been the biggest driver of our success over the past 31 years, and it will continue to do so into the future. Of course, much has changed since McEnearney Associates, Inc. opened in 1980. The tools are different, the skill sets required to be successful are different and consumer expectations are different and higher. But the obligation to the client will always be the most important element of any successful agent and any successful firm. As it was in 1980, so it is today in 2011 . . . and so it will be in 2030.

Q: I have heard that we should get pre-approved for a mortgage loan before looking at homes in Washington or Oregon. Why is a pre-approval the important first step in the home buying process?

A: I am glad that you asked that question because getting pre-approved for a home loan is the best way to begin when you decide to purchase a home. Perhaps the most important step in completing the pre-approval process is that it gives you the advantage of knowing your buying power and identifying any qualifying areas that might need attention. Your buying power is enhanced by knowing your numbers, which may result in you getting a better deal. The price range you can be approved for and your comfort level for a monthly payment within that price range is also important. This knowledge helps you shop with confidence during your home search. In addition, being pre-approved will save you time and energy. Knowing your numbers eliminates the time spent looking at homes that do not fit your monthly spending goals and often during that process you will discover that you can buy more home than anticipated. Being prepared to buy through the pre-approval process also enhances your negotiating power. Understanding the boundaries of your approval allows you to negotiate with confidence to reach the outcome you desire. It is a short and simple process to be pre-approved for a mortgage loan and move into the buying process with strength and determination. I urge you to get started today and to rely on Directors Mortgage to help you every step of the way. At Directors Mortgage we are ready to work with you to receive a pre-approval for a mortgage loan and we look forward to being part of a great home buying experience!
